As a nonprofit organization with an educational mission, whose membership includes the world’s most successful women corporate executives and entrepreneurs, C200 understands that, as leaders, the onus falls on us to drive change and racial equity in our workplaces and in our communities.

We have learned that having these uncomfortable conversations is the first step in the right direction. Last Friday, June 5, our C200 community heard from Dr. Sheila Robinson, Owner of Diversity Woman Media and Publisher of Diversity Woman Magazine, who offered us these actionable suggestions to begin creating equitable workspaces:

  • Create fairness and justice in how one is treated
  • Begin with awareness and acknowledgment of an unequal starting place
  • Recognize advantages and barriers
  • Address imbalances

C200 members were quick to join in the dialogue and discuss what needs to change, such as making sure Board Compensation Committees address compensation equity. If you were unable to join this conversation, I encourage you to view the recording.

C200 and our members will work with Dr. Sheila Robinson on an ongoing basis to develop a Racial Equity Toolkit for our organization, our members’ companies, and our affiliates. We will continue to share updates and best practices as we learn from Dr. Sheila Robinson and other thought leaders in this space, and invite you to please join us in an active and action-oriented discussion. There is more to come, in partnership with members.

We are committed to continuing education for our members, staff, and leaders at large, so that together we can create meaningful change.

With Thanks to Those Committed to Change,
